Zoe Zimmer is a Marvel Comics character who appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She made her debut in the first episode of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel and is portrayed by starring cast member, Laurel Marsden.
Zoe is a popular student at Coles Academic High School, with a large social media following. When she attends AvengerCon, she is rescued by a mysterious young cosplayer with powers, whom she later dubs "Night Light".
Zoe Zimmer was created by writer, G. Willow Wilson and artist, Adrian Alphona.

Zoe is an American teenager who lives in New Jersey, and attends Coles Academic High School. She used to be driven by her mother, alongside Nakia, Kamala, and Bruno, but once she gained a mass social media following, her demeanor towards them and their relationship changed.[1]

While walking down the stairs at school, Kamala bumps into Zoe while distracted, to Zoe's annoyance. Kamala apologizes to her, and Zoe quickly assures her its fine. When Kamala compliments the jacket she's wearing, Zoe returns the favor, by admiring her necklace. Kamala awkwardly goes on to explain its her name in Arabic, but Zoe has no interest in further continuing the conversation, and leaves.[1]
During PT, Zoe smacks the ball in Kamala's face in a game of basketball. Zoe laughs, and Nakia rushes to her friend's aid, accusing Zoe of doing it on purpose, which she denies.[1]
On the day of AvengerCon, Zoe attends the event, and dressed up as Captain Marvel, for a cosplay competition. She and the other contestants take the stage, as they show off their costumes, when one of the cosplayers emits an energy construct from her hand. Zoe watches in shock, as she continue to emit more, and then joins the crowd in an applause, assuming she was part of an act. She approaches the girl to give her admiration, and asks if she's available for parties, before proceeding to request a photograph. At that moment, a wire holding a giant model of Mjolnir is let loose, and directly hits Zoe. She is caught on it, as it swings back and forth, before slipping off. As she falls to the ground, the competitor with powers, creates a construct of her elongated arm, which breaks Zoe's fall, and saving her from harm. Zoe looks for her in the midst of the chaos, but she escapes her sight, among the various attendees, running from harms way.[1]
Following the ordeal, Zoe publishes a video, recounting what happened at AvengerCon, from her perspective, leading to a massive increase in online followers.[2]
At school, a group full of students gather around her, as she recalls the story, for them to listen to. Paul asks who the heroine was, and Zoe dubs her Night Light. She proceeds to invite them out for a party on Friday, in celebration of the "fragility of life", as well as her social media increase, to half a million followers. Kamran, a new senior at school, passes Zoe by, and she invites him, adding that she'll message him the details.[2]
On the night of the party, various members of Coles Academy are present. Zoe watches as Kamran dives into the pool from above, and smiles. The incoming noise of the police sirens soon arrive, and the teenagers are alerted to the arrival of the police. Zoe fears her parents reaction, as all those in attendance, scatter.[2]
Zoe is later brought in by the Department of Damage Control for questioning. She initially believes she was brought in, because of the party she held, and attempts to defend herself. Agent Cleary, who is sent in for her interrogation recognizes her, based on her social media, and claims to be a massive fan. Zoe gets excited at the prospect of this, and he shares how his co-workers are fans too. She expresses her happiness, for Cleary's admiration of her videos, and he goes on to talk about how well she must've faired at AvengerCon with her fans. Cleary suddenly changes his demeanor and asks whether the enhanced individual tried to kill her, but Zoe denies this and states she saved her life. Cleary then proceeds to imply that Zoe planned the incident at AvengerCon for likes, with the enhanced individual. He questions if she was her sister, claiming they have similar appearances, but Zoe denies they share any likeness. Agent Deever enters, and questions what she does know about the powered individual. Zoe admits she didn't get a good look at her, and Deever proceeds to interrogate her, asking if she had any accent, and what race she was. Zoe looks down, and shakes her head as Deever asks if she was Latinx or Middle Eastern, but when she asks if the individual was South Asian, Zoe doesn't react. She listens in, as the agents announce a tri-state sweep, searching every temple, community center, and mosque in the area.[2]
On Saturday evening, Zoe arrives at school to film content for her social media. Whilst there, she finds Kamala, now sporting a superhero uniform, with her friends, as they discuss how Damage Control has targeted all of them prior. She makes herself known to the group, and reveals Damage Control also interrogated her, to try and coerce her into revealing Night Light's real identity. She tells Kamala she owes her for saving her life and the group stand in solidarity with her.[3]
Kamala formulates a plan to prevent the DODC from capturing herself and Kamran, who they are also after. Zoe is tasked with grabbing supplies with Kamala's older brother, Aamir, which also includes collecting the fire extinguishers and the baseballs from the gymnasium. Their collective plan is to stall Damage Control as long as possible, and relies on Zoe and her following.[3]
As they get ready to execute their plan, Nakia questions why Zoe didn’t reveal that she knew Kamala was Night Light. Zoe replies she chose not to divulge the information, because it wasn't her place to do so, stating that Kamala should be able to disclose her identity, when she is ready.[3]
As they're talking, their discussions are interrupted by the DODC, who storm the building, causing the group to initiate their plan. Zoe and the others dress in identical school gear, to keep the agents distracted and from acquiring the correct target. She then proceeds to livestream on her phone, informing her mass following that Damage Control, have her and her friends surrounded, and on the hunt for the two who have powers. She urges her followers to come to spread her message, and come the school, for help, and to stand in opposition to Damage Control's actions.[3]
Zoe then proceeds to put her hood up, in order to keep her face concealed, and releases the fire extinguishers, in order to hinder the Damage Control agents' view. She escapes into the hallways where she is joined by Aamir and Nakia, and fires the schools pitching machines, loaded with baseballs, at the agents. The trio momentarily celebrate, believing they have the upper hand, but remain unaware of the second group of agents behind them. They are quickly captured and detained, as they're handcuffed, and placed in to the back of the Damage Control van, alongside Bruno, who was also captured.[3]
The group wait for further action, as they're surrounded by the protestors who arrived, because of Zoe's video. When Kamran burst the through the front entrance of the school, he is met with fire from the DODC, and Zoe watches on, as Kamala stand between him, creating a shield, to protect the pair, from the agents bullets. Damage Control then blast a sonic weapon in Kamran and Kamala's direction, throwing the pair back, while Zoe and the others shout for her in despair, unable to do anything from their confines. Zoe and the group, watch in shock, as Kamala struggles to stand up, when she suddenly recovers, destroying a DODC vehicle, and revealing herself to be surrounded in a light exoskeleton, transforming Zoe and the others fears, into amazement.[3]
As they watch on, Kamran recovers, also using his powers to fight against the agents. Zoe looks in shock as he beat them, outside the van. He suddenly loses control, and releases a burst of energy, causing crystalline energy to materialise in his vicinity. The crystals surround the immediate area, breaking through the van, and come close to piercing Zoe, Aamir, Nakia and Bruno directly. Kamala manages to subdue Kamran, in a crystalline dome, preventing his creations from further spreading. She gives him the chance to escape, and as a result, the crystalline fragments dissipate into the air.[3]
Zoe and the others leave the now damaged van, as Kamala emerges, without Kamran. They alongside the protestors, surround her, to prevent Damage Control from capturing her. Before any action can be taken by the DODC, Kamala runs in the air on her platforms, escaping, causing Zoe and the others to cheer and applaud, as they celebrate her evasion from Damage Control.[3]
Kamala's actions are widely celebrated on social media, and Zoe shares her experience on TikTok, also including Nakia in her video.[3]

Whilst Kamala scrolls through the intel that S.A.B.E.R. have collected on her, Zoe can be seen listed as a friend of hers, indicating the agency is aware of her correspondence with Ms. Marvel.
