Zooey Claire Deschanel is an American actress, model, singer-songwriter, and musician. She is best known for her supporting film roles, such as Jovie in Elf and Summer Finn in (500) Days of Summer, and for her television role as Jessica "Jess" Day in the Fox sitcom New Girl from 2011 to 2018. She also voiced Lani Aliikai in the 2007 Sony Pictures animated film Surf's Up and Bridget in DreamWorks' Trolls franchise. She is the younger sister of actress Emily Deschanel.
For Disney, she played Nessa Watkins in the 1999 Touchstone Pictures film Mumford, Jenny Herk in the 2002 Touchstone Pictures film Big Trouble, Lady Larkin in the 2005 ABC musical television film Once Upon a Mattress, Trillian in the 2005 Touchstone Pictures film The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Miss Edmunds in the 2007 fantasy film Bridge to Terabithia. She also provided songs for Disney's 2011 animated feature film Winnie the Pooh.
