Production

On December 14, 2021, it was reported that a reboot Zorro series started development at Disney-ABC. Wilmer Valderrama will executive produce and star as Diego de la Vega in what is described as a "reimagining" of the series. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television stated that the series is "set in Pueblo de Los Angeles, but told in a very modern telenovela style".

On March 6, 2023, Deadline reported that Bryan Cogman was attached as the showrunner and executive producer for the series.
